My Fortune Today

So I found a forgotten fortune cookie in my purse tonight while sitting through Dexter's basketball practice. Of course I had to open it immediately and eat it. I had to laugh at the fortune: "You will have full contentment by summer's end." The timing is hilarious since I have been having a hard time lately emotionally. I was actually up late last night doing some thinking and serious pondering. Just trying to figure life out I guess. Wondering if I'm the person Heavenly Father wants me to be...feeling a little lost. Not sure if I'm on track and having a basic self pity party for the most part. So the question is, "Do I really have to wait until summer's end before I feel contentment again?" What do you think....and when do you think I'll ever find myself again? (I use to be fun :) but now don't feel like I am anymore.)

I Blog Like I Write in My Journal

So I'm not too good at keeping this blog thing up-to-date. I write in my journal about never either....ha ha. When I do, it's usually in the fall. Maybe because I'm now stuck inside because of the bad weather coming....hmmmm...who knows. I was reading a friend's blog today and thought to myself, "Will I be able to even get to my own blog? It's been awhile since I've looked at it or added to it." Well I definitely still have a blog but it's got to be one the most boring blogs EVER.

So football is over for the year. Only Max played this year. He loved loved loved it. He was the quarterback. Dexter opted to play basketball year round. I was able to handle the whole football thing much better with only one kid playing. Dexter is going to play on a competitive basketball for the winter and Max is playing Junior Jazz. McKensie is dancing still so I still run around quite a bit but I don't have to do it everyday so I don't get too bugged out. Mandi is now a senior and had to grow up (poor girl) I made her quit dance and get a job. :( Life is rough.

Brooke got married this summer on July 22, 2010, to Andy Wasden. I now officially have six kids. We love Andy and are so excited to have him in our family. They are a cute couple together. Both are in school and trying to work towards their degrees.

So that's about all for now. See ya in another year? We'll see!! :)

Up to My Eyeballs with Football

So my boys decided to play football this year. This is the first time they've played. It's been an interesting experience--one that I actually don't really like. My husband, however, is a football FREAK and thinks it's great. He played football growing up and is loving all of this BUT he also isn't the one getting them to practice everyday. Yes you read that right--practice EVERY day. Now I know I don't know much about football, but practicing 2 hours a day, six days a week, seems a little over the top. They have been practicing since the end of July. I told Chris that it wouldn't hurt my feelings at all if the boys decided to not play this sport ever again. Chris told me that I am being negative. How would you all feel about this? Am I being a bad sport? Oh well, like everything else, there is an end to this but not until November. Ugh!!!

When You Need A Good Laugh

There is a very funny video on Hulu.com that I absolutely love. I look at it whenever I need a good laugh. I would upload it to my blog but I don't know how to get it loaded. Sorry. So if you go to Hulu.com and search for SNL (Saturday Night Live) Lawrence Welk. It's a video with Anne Hathaway singing with her 3 sisters and they are in yellow dresses. Go look it up and then leave me a comment and let me know if it made you laugh too. Happy Laughing :)!!

Max's Birthday

As I was looking through some pictures and trying to find something to blog about, I came across this picture of Max on his 8th birthday. Poor thing was asleep and we had to wake him up to sing "Happy Birthday" to him.
He was so tired he didn't even enjoy a piece of cake until the next day. I guess we'd better start earlier for his next birthday.
This picture makes me laugh. I can't even remember what we did and why it was so late before we had birthday cake.

Olympic Junkie

So I have decided I am officially an Olympic Junkie. I have stayed up far too late watching everything. I even watched the basketball game on Sunday (so not myself--I usually don't even turn on the t.v. on Sundays except maybe to watch Music and the Spoken Word.)

Tonight I am just listening to the Olympics as I got on the internet to find out what was going on in the big outside world. I was trying to find out if a friend of mine had her baby yet. I hadn't done any blogging for months. All I can say is "Working full time all summer is NOT fun." Oh the guilt too!! My little son, Max, came up to me tonight when I got home, and said, "Hi, mom! I don't get to see you very much anymore." Could that be because of working or watching too much Olympics? Poor kid!!

40th Birthday Trip

A few years ago, my friend Joni (we've been friends since we were 7 years old) and I decided that when we turned 40 we needed to go on a girls trip somewhere. We ended up going to Mazatlan since Joni's mom owns a condo down there. It was my first time to Mexico. It was so relaxing and nice. The condo was right on the beach. Chris tried to invite himself a couple of times but got turned down, because this trip was only for girls. We went with Joni's mom and a friend that Joni works with.

This is a picture of the condo. It's the one in the middle. The resort to the left is the Holiday Inn. On the right is a nice resort called El Cid. We went down there one day and swam in their pool since it is more fancy than the pool at the condo we were in.

Instead of going to feed the ducks, we went and fed the turtles. We fed them tortillas. They must not be able to see too good though, because when you'd drop the tortilla in the water they couldn't see it too well. Alot of the times, the fish would swim up between all the turtles and snatch the tortilla away before the turtle had time to even figure out there was some food right by it's head. In this picture, Joni was holding the tortilla out of the water, and the turtle is actually coming out of the water to get it.

The transportation down there is a hoot. This is in the back of a little red truck. We were going to town to the market. The extra ladies in the truck with us are Joni's mom's friends that she has met down there. They all stay down there during the winter months.

And this little piggy didn't make it home from the market. So anyone up for pighead roast dinner? The market was full of all kinds of interesting things that you don't see back home.

The last night there, we went and ate at Senor Frogs. What a crazy place. I don't have any pictures of me there because I was out of memory space on my camera by then. When we first walked in and were waiting for a table, the waiters grabbed us and made us jump rope right there in the middle of the restaurant. They also made everyone in the restaurant get up and dance on their chairs to the YMCA. We also had to join the conga line that took us all through the restaurant and outside. The music is blaring loud and the waiters were all blowing whistles. We didn't get our dinner until 10 p.m. The second they sat us down, a guy comes up to us and makes us these crazy balloon hats, shoves them on our heads, and then proceeds to tell us that he needs a tip. It was funny. We had to pay for a goofy balloon hat that we didn't really want. If ever in Mexico, you need to go experience Senor Frogs at least once. It's the craziest restaurant I've ever been in. Nothing compares to it back at home.
