I'm Sick of the Snow

It's getting down right depressing always looking at the white stuff. My back is hurting from shoveling the snow. Worse than that, I swear half the snow in the driveway is probably the same snow I've already shoveled. The wind is blowing terribly and it moves the snow back into the driveway. Uugh! Everybody keeps hoping this will end soon, but it doesn't seem to. Just when we get our hopes up (we actually enjoyed three days in the 40's), it dumps snow all over again. Help!! We're getting buried.

The kids were quite pleased this morning though with the appearance of the white stuff. School was delayed for two hours this morning. There was a school down in the Alpine district that had the kids overnight because the buses couldn't get out of the parking lot. I guess the parents couldn't get there either because the roads were closed. I don't think I could have let my kids stay at school all night in those conditions. I would have freaked out if those were my kids. I probably would have packed up all their snow clothes and walked to the school on foot to get them.

We are escaping to St. George for the weekend and it's suppose to be 61 degrees on Sunday. We are very excited to feel such temperatures again.

Love Tag

What is your husband's name?
Christopher John Hunsaker--aka Toph, Bishop, Honey Bunny Boo, (okay just kidding about the last one)

How long have you been together?
I meet Chris when I was 18 right out of high school but we didn't date until six months later--married a year after our first date(not exactly to the day but close)--just celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary last December.

How long did you date?
One year

Who eats more?
Chris. Anyone that knows me well knows that I wish you didn't have to eat to stay alive and when you do eat why does it always have to be healthy?

Who said I love you first?
Chris. I was still confused about my missionary I was "supposedly" waiting for. Boy did I do a bad job waiting!

Who is taller?
Chris

Who has more speeding tickets?
I don't think we should even go there. But if Karlene is reading this she is probably laughing. She knows all about my woos and woes when it comes to my little hubby and his driving habits.

Who is smarter?
If you need an accountant, then Chris. If you go by grades you got in school, then me. Ha ha. I was under the pressure of a father that told me I would be grounded for a whole month if I ever got a C. I never wanted to test his threat.

Who is more sensitive?
Me but Chris would say that I'm too sensitive. Actually Chris is pretty sensitive too. A neighbor once asked if Chris grew up in a family with all girls. No, he didn't (in case you're wondering)

When there is a fight, who usually wins?
A smart man always lets the wife win.

Who does the laundry?
I usually do and most of the time prefer to. But Chris has gotten so smart over the years. He now knows when there is a pile of laundry on his side of the bed, he needs to fold it.

Who does the dishes?
The whole family. I have five kids and a hubby. I make everyone take a night. It's so nice. But I still do all the morning and lunch dishes and the dishes from the night before because the kids decided to take a night off. Chris got a good dose of how many dishes I really do when I was sick most of January and the dishes sure piled up. Our first fight as hubby and wife were actually about the dishes. Funny. The dumb things you fight about.

Who sleeps on the right?
Right side when you're looking at the bed or when you're laying in the bed? Hee hee

Who pays the bills?
We have taken shifts over the years. Right now, it's my turn.

Who mows the lawn?
Chris. This is one area that I won't touch because I feel if I start mowing the lawn, he'll gladly let me every week. I pull the weeds and Chris takes care of the lawn.

Who cooks dinner?
Usually me if you count warming up frozen food cooking. Okay I'm really better than that but lately I feel like I've been bad about planning meals. Sometimes my kids have asked if they have ever had something for dinner before that I've made and the sad but true answer is "yes, when we lived in Sandy". Chris can cook and does so every now and then. Usually breakfast for me or buffalo wings for everyone but me. I hate those things.

Who drives when you are together?
Chris because he uses the excuse that he gets car sick when he's the passenger. I may get a turn to drive with Chris in the car when he's tired and we're driving home from St. George.

Who is more stubborn?
Sooooo me.

Who kissed whom first?
I say Chris and he says I did. Whatever!

Who asked who out first?
Chris did. We worked together for months and I would tell him all about this guy I was trying to dump by giving him major hints and then go to work and tell Chris all about my date and ask him "Would you ever ask me out again if I did that to you?" Chris would tell me that he would never ask me out because I was ruthless. I guess he decided to take a chance on the ruthless girl.

Who proposed?
It was kind of mutual and not very romantic. We took the practical approach and made a list of expenses to see if we could even afford to get married. It's actually a funny memory. Chris told me that he was going to propse to his wife on a carriage ride downtown. I'm still waiting for the carriage ride.

Who has more siblings?
We both have 3 siblings. Chris is from a family of three boys and one girl and I am also from a family of three boys and one girl.

Since nobody really knows about my blog yet, I'm not tagging anyone.

YES! An 1/8 of an Inch Does Matter

I'm turning the big 40 this year. My friend Joni has always said that we need to go somewhere on vacation together when we turn 40. So the time is soon approaching. Joni grew up going to Mazatlan every year for Christmas and now her mom actually owns the condo that they always went to. So we are going to stay in the condo at Mazatlan. I'm a little nervous though. I have never been to Mexico. Needless to say, I need a passport. Wow my first passport.

On Friday I went to go tackle to task. First, I stopped by the local post office to see what to do. They only accept passport applications by appointment and the first appointment was Feb. 21. The man also told me that it was taking 6-8 weeks to receive your passport and to expedite that time it was an additional $95. Ouch! I asked him if there were any post offices that received walk ins. He told me the only post office to receive walk ins was the downtown post office. Okay great! I get to go venture downtown which I don't do very often. You know how any downtown is in any city. Parking is a big pain. Now I'm mad about waiting too long to obtain the passport.

So I head to Walgrens to get a passport photo. It goes smoothly. Only takes 10 minutes. I head downtown, but it's now around 3:50 pm since I had to get the kids from school first before heading down. Boy oh boy it's crowded. I get in line and the postal worker makes us all shuffle out the door. Everybody in line is worried that when 4:30 hits (which is the last time they'll take walk ins) that they'll just close the door on us. I don't even have an application and there is nowhere to just pick one up and start filling out while you wait. Finally a man applying for a passport sticks his head out the door and asks if everyone has an application. Whew! That will save some time. I finally get up to the counter after a half hour. The worker process everything. Staples the passport photos on and then tells me to wait for another worker that is currently helping someone else to pay for everything. When the next worker starts helping me, he looks at the picture and pulls out a tape measure and says that my photo is too big by 1/8 of an inch. I'm thinking can't you cut it down by 1/8 of an inch but that's not the problem. The man at Walgrens made the photo from my head to my chin an 1/8" too big. The worker tells me that I could try to send it in and see if it's passes but if not they will send me a letter telling me to submit a new photo. I'm thinking I don't have time to waste since my trip is in 9 weeks. So now I have to pay double the price I did at Walgrens and get a new photo taken at the post office. Then there were four people behind me that had taken their photos before me so I never even saw the new photo. The worker that first helped me and took the photo said I didn't have to wait that he was sure the photo would turn out okay. How much does anyone want to bet I'll get a phone call on Monday from the post office saying that my photo didn't print and I need to come back in? It wouldn't surprise me after what I was going through to get this passport.

On the way home, I stopped by Walgrens and had to get a refund for the bad photo. You know if Walgrens is going to advertise that they make passport photos, you'd think they would train their employees better. Anyways, I ended up taking my whole Friday afternoon just to apply for a passport. So if any of you need a passport, don't put off applying for it. Do it sooner than later. And remember: an 1/8 of an inch does matter!

Clips in my Video Bar

I added the video bar on my blog and wanted to explain my choices. I love Anita Renfroe's Mom overture. It totally sums up what a mom says all day long. I had never seen her singing the Don't Breath song in the blonde wig. It's pretty funny. I love to laugh and help other people laugh too. Chasing Cars is a song I love by Snow Patrol. Those three words.....I've said too much.....but not enough.

Trying to Get Computer Savvy

Okay I just set up my very own blog. I can't wait to see if anyone out there wants to read it. I really need to join the computer world and get more savy. It's pretty sad when your kids can figure more out on the computer than you can, so I decided to join the blogging world. This should be fun. I guess we'll see by how many blogs end up on my spot. Here's to the Zulu tribe for the inspiration. Thanks guys.
