Contractors' Time Zone

Hey there everybody. It's been awhile since I've last blogged. I've been stuck in Contractors' Time Zone. For those of you who don't know what this is, I'll explain. It's the unfortunate time when you have to endure those contractors in your home. It starts with a phone call that they'll be there at 9:00 a.m. and then show up at noon. It also includes that your shower will be installed on a Monday and it doesn't actually get installed until a Thursday. And, apparently, while you're stuck in this time zone, you have nothing else to do but wait around for them to show up.

I also started working part time at Chris' work on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so I am going a little crazy getting use to my new schedule while stuck in contractors' time zone. It's hard getting anything done while stuck at home on this time zone. One day I didn't even get in the shower because they were suppose to show up, and I didn't have time to get in before they were going to arrive. I postponed my shower all day because I knew the second I was buck naked ready to get in the shower my doorbell would ring. Chris said that was exactly why I should have gotten in the shower because then they would have shown up. Needless to say, by the end of that day, I had no shower and also no contractor showed up to install the shower glass door.

So we are still waiting on the bathroom to be finished completely. It's getting a little closer every week but not quite there. Luckily, for Brooke, her room is done and she has been able to reclaim her space.

Building a House Is Fun To Do

Building a house is fun to do, fun to do, to do, to do. Building a house is fun to do, to do, to do, to do. We have been in our home now for 7 years and have just found out that they never installed the shower correctly in our master bathroom.

On Valentine's Day my daughter, Brooke, comes upstairs and asks me what I was doing in my bathroom because water was dripping from her ceiling. Uugh!! When all was said and done, I had ripped up the carpet in my bedroom because the carpet was wet, cut out one wall of the shower to see the problem, and cut away part of Brooke's ceiling. We were in a mess. I then called my hubby to tell him all about our Valentine's Day disaster. Right before I found out about the rain in my basement, I was on my way to get stuff for my hubby for Valentine's Day. He ended up with a big mess instead.

Our insurance is paying for this mess to be fixed. The total is $7,200. Wow!! I suggest that when your shower needs caulking, do it quickly. Although it wouldn't have helped that much for us since the shower was installed improperly. Gotta love building a home.
